Panasonic will focus on mirrorless and superzooms and $300+ cameras in 2014
Panasonic is trying to get its digital camera business to stop losing money, so they decided to take drastic measures, to focus on cameras priced 30,000 (around $300) and higher. According to the announcement they will launch five new compact cameras in 2014, focusing on superzooms and cameras with unique features and mirrorless cameras. Panasonic is also considering OEM arrangements for cameras under 20,000 yen (around $200).
The silver lining in this, if the company is to focus more on photographer priority cameras, perhaps they can increase the quality and value of their more advanced cameras?
