DxOmarK measures the Nikon D610 (karma!) and the Canon S120 rawsumer
Never a dull moment at Dxomark as you can see from their stream of reviews on their homepage. They gave us two new gifts the last couple of days, their Nikon D610 and Canon Powershot S120 measurement-evaluations!
Karma's a dusty pixel in the case of the Nikon D610, as the older Nikon D600 managed to eek out ahead of the new Nikon D610 in the Dxomark rankings. A very small difference, perhaps within the margin of error, but still, karma is sending Nikon a message for the way they handled the D600 issues. Was the way Nikon handled this their "Canon 1D Mark III moment"?
On the Canon Powershot S120 front, the comparison between the S120 and the Nikon P330 and Panasonic LF1 yields something uninteresting that in itself is interesting: triplets! The scores are very similar, as if [pure speculation] perhaps the cameras are using the same sensor?
As usual, keep in mind, Dxomark measurements are a specific set of tests and they are not intended to be an end-to-end camera and camera system evaluation. A lot of other factors are in play as well.
Price-wise, the Canon S120 currently goes for $450 [Amazon | Adorama | B&H Photo], while the Nikon D610 body only is in-stock for $2000 at B&H Photo (with three freebies) and Amazon and OneCall.com and Best Buy et al.
