Just like clockwork, new Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Elements 12 is announced and released too!
It is the last week of September, and that can only mean one thing: a new version of Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements! We are now up to version 12! September 2012 brought us version 11, September 2011 brought us version 10, etc. Deduct one from the year to find the latest version number :) It feels like it was yesterday when I was writing the Elements 11 blog-post. Time flies very fast!
A short two minute Adobe YouTube video below rounds up some of the main new features of version XII:
Version 12 Available Now
The new Photoshop Elements 12 is now available for immediate purchase (digital download) at Amazon.com (Windows or Mac OS) for $100 and the Elements 12 Photoshop and Premiere for $150 (Windows or Mac OS). The combo is also available as a student & teacher edition for $120 for people who qualify for the academic discounts as set forth by Adobe.
As you can see, these are early adopter prices. If you want to be on the thrifty side, you have a choice of the previous versions or patience until they get discounted.
Photoshop Elements 12 is around 1GB download, while the combo is over 2GB, so make sure you have both available hard disk space and a reliable high-speed internet connection before buying the digital download.
PS: "announced" is a proclamation of a new product. "Release" is when you get actually get it. Think of it in terms of music, for example: ZZ Top "announced" they are working on a new album --> Don't camp outside a music store (assuming you can find one). Example #2: The new ZZ Top album "Without Beards" will be released on Tuesday February 30 in 2014 --> camp outside a music store. [fictional example!]
