IFA 2013 recap so far: Sony, Samsung, Wacom, Canon, Schneider
It has been a rather eventful IFA 2013 in Berlin so far. This post summarizes some of the big announcements so far.
Sony stole the show with their new QX100 and QX10 sensor-lens-modules-for-smartphones, offering 1" and 1/2.3" sensors and zoom lenses. Sadly no RAW. They are available for pre-order for $500 and $250 respectively, along with optional accessories.
Sony made some other interesting moves as well. They hope to capitalize on the popularity of music videos with the new MV1 music camcorder, along with the new AS30 action camera. They are also shooting for the other end of the spectrum, the 4K FDR-AX1 video camera with a $4,500 price tag. They will also score bonus points with FDR fans :)
Wacom is back with more new graphics tablets, six new models were ushered out, three in the affordable line-up starting at $80 and three in the Professional line-up starting at $250 and ending at $500.
Samsung had a splashy choreographed event launching the new era of Wrist Photography with the $300 Galaxy Gear smartwatch with a camera on the side of the watch-strap. Also coming along for the ride a new Galaxy Note 3 with 4K video.
