Curiosity Factor: Pentax MX-1 completed review and also ISO comparison
Curious about how the new Pentax MX-1 compact with RAW performs? You are in luck today because there is one completed review and one standard test scene ISO comparison. The completed review is out at Photography Blog and it includes a vast variety of JPEG and RAW samples, both of the test-scene variety and also of the real-world variety (the majority of the samples). As usual, we won't spill the e-beans here, but if you are in a hurry or running out of battery, you can check the conclusions before jumping to conclusions.
On the ISO comparison front, Focus Numerique published their standard ISO comparison test scene squaring off the MX-1 with the Olympus XZ-2 and Panasonic LX7 and Canon G15 and Sony RX100. As usual with FN, you can also find the RAW files right below each sample set - the links that say this: "Vous pouvez également télécharger les fichiers Raw (80-100-200-400-800-1600-3200-6400 ISO)".
Availability wise, the MX-1 is in-stock at Amazon et al at its starting price of $500. B&H includes a bonus 16GB card and case with the silver MX1. Last week we saw the first discount, with the black going for $450 and the silver for $470 but that discount was short lived. But as it is often the case with prices, the only way is down in the long term.
