New Nikon Coolpix superzooms: P520 (42x) and L820 (30x)
Nikon has also revealed their two new superzoom leaders, replacing the P510 and the L810, with the new P520 and L820. The new Coolpix P520 is the leader of the pack with a 18mp backlit CMOS sensor with a 42x optical zoom lens (24-1000mm eq), 3.2-inch vari-angle display, GPS, and such. The new Coolpix L820 has a 16mp backlit CMOS sensor, with a 30x optical zoom (22.5-675mm eq), a 3-inch LCD, AA power, and such.
It is interesting that Nikon has a two-class system, with the more advanced models getting the 18mp backlit CMOS sensor and the right-below models getting the 16mp backlit CMOS sensor.
And while the new entry-level Coolpix L28 has a 20-megapixel sensor, it is also - paradoxically perhaps - a spit in the eye of megapixel madness that the most basic of the cameras is the one that gets the 20-megapixel sensor :)
