Giottos Silk Road YTL tripods replace cylindrical center column with Y-shape
With so many new digital cameras we simply can't cover SLR accessories unless they are something unusual or different or we run out of things to post (sadly this hasn't happened since 2009). With that as an unnecessary preface...
At CES + PMA 2013, Giottos showed the new Silk Road YTL series of tripods that have an interesting design difference: they replaced the cylindrical center column with a Y-shaped column. It's not really a "Y", it's more of an underwear symbol, but that terminology probably wouldn't be considered a prudent technical term. The Y-design claims space savings of 30%.
This was covered during CES + PMA by Pixiq and SLR Lounge et al. Late last week this was picked up by dpreview so it started making the internet rounds again. dpreview commenter "sdyue" posted a detailed list of model numbers and links in the dpreview Comments.
