Pentax 645D body can now handle stabilized lenses (firmware update)
Don't you forget about me sings the Pentax 645D medium format camera! Pentax did not forget as they have released a new firmware update that allows the camera to use stabilized lenses. Currently there is one recently-revealed Pentax MF lens that has optical image stabilization. Details at Imaging Resource 645 and PentaxForums Blog and Photoscala.de et al.
Since we are on the topic of the 645D, the camera received a text-based review at Photocomment.net. For more on the 645D, check its relatively short list of completed 645D reviews.
The Pentax 645D probably doesn't feel like the first camera one would think when it comes to sports photography, but Ron Hendricks won a PentaxForums contest using the 645D to shoot a swimming competition. So the 645D can cover more than mathletes and chess competitions! :-) Hendricks published more of his 645D experience at Pentaxian.nl (computer-translated).
Price-wise, the 645D is at $8800 and if you order before 1/1/13 at Amazon, you will receive 6% back in promotional rewards (6% of $8000 = $480, enough to buy a Pentax K-01 with the 40mm pancake and a couple of small accessories)
