New Quietly Released P&S cameras: Nikon Coolpix S9050 and Sony W710
The year is almost over and the CES + PMA 2013 trade show is almost upon us [see Trade Show Calendar] but the tally of new cameras announced in 2012 increases by two today, because of two quietly-released P&S digital cameras.
The Nikon Coolpix S9050 is yet another compact-zoom (15.5x, 25-388mm eq) in the Coolpix series and was one of the cameras advertised in the Black Friday ads of multiple brick and mortar retail chains in the US market and was promptly ignored by most :) But the camera got some official recognition last week with a spec-sheet at ePhotozine.
These two lovely future landfillers increase the number of new cameras in 2012 to around 223 from the major camera manufacturers. We need to do an overall re-calc on that page, after we decide how to treat the various interchangeable lens video-priority cameras that use the same lens mounts as photography-priority cameras (eg Canon 1D C, Cinema C100, Sony NEX-VG-something, etc).
