Cosina discontinues Zeiss Ikon production

Not all news is good news. Case in point here for fans of classic film rangefinders. Cosina is announcing that they are ending production of the Zeiss Ikon film cameras. The announcement was verified by multiple sources including Fujiya Camera (Japanese camera store) and by Zeiss representative to ThePhoBlographer and by direct call to Cosina by Japanese photographer at the Rangefinder Forums. Just to prevent Zeiss Ikon fans from jumping off the e-cliff, consider that when one door closes, another one may open. Perhaps this may open the door for Zeiss to partner with another manufacturer? [pure wishful thinking speculation]
