App World: Photo filters coming to Twitter for the Holidays

Twitter apparently is planning to put a cyber gift in our cyber socks (that sounds like a phrase from the early 2000s!). They are planning to release photo filters for the official native Twitter apps before the end of this year. By unleashing photo filters, the Twitter is perhaps hoping to make its official app more enticing to the photo filter generation. Via All Things Mossberg via Techmeme.

As we mentioned in our previous Newsbytes, Instagram disconnected their picture embeds from Twitter, so Twitter users now need to take an extra step in order to view Instagram pictures in tweets. You may have already seen frustrated tweets about this from both photo-takers and photo-viewers, so the opportunity is there for Twitter to "convert" some of the Instagrammers to Twitterizers!

Needless to say, The Grumpy Photographer is fuming over these developments. "Have we fought so hard for photography to see it devolve into a never-ending obsession with photo filters?" he opined in a Telex sent from his annual retreat in Yosemite.
