Interview with Sigma: no obstacles to Full Frame Foveon sensor
The new CEO of Sigma, Kazuto Yamaki, gave an text-based interview to LensTip.com, the english version of Optyczne.pl. This was a concise and on-topic interview. Of interest to full frame fans, the Sigma CEO said: "...Technologically speaking there are no obstacles to producing a full frame Foveon sensor..."
The Sigma CEO also talked about lenses in general, and also favorite lenses, the mirrorless segment, the most popular SLR/mounts of sold Sigma lenses, etc, etc. In a welcome moment of candor, the Sigma CEO revealed that the SD1 Merrill (DSLR) sales have been "not satisfying".
Speaking of Sigma, uber-guru extraordinaire Roger Cicala received the first shipment of the new Sigma 35mm f1.4 SLR lens and in his words, it posterizes and creates a new world order. Note however, these are just his first impressions. He will put it through the paces during this holiday weekend.
The Canon flavor of the lens was in-stock earlier today at B&H Photo, but the Cicala report must have accelerated the sales, as it is now back in pre-order state.
