Impact review: Nikon D600 at dpreview

Both Nikon and Canon (what a happy coincidence) managed to launch new quote-unquote affordable full frame DSLRs at Photokina, each one starting at $2100 (what a happy coincidence). Nikon's entry in this new segment of the full frame market is the D600 and this very DSLR has received its highly-anticipated 23-page dpreview review.

As usual, we won't leak the light here, or put dirt on the sensor, but if you are in a hurry or running out of battery, you can jump to the conclusions before jumping to conclusions.

The review is discussed vigorously in the review announcement comments at dpreview, along with the FX forum review discussion which includes responses from the dpreview reviewers. More D600 discussion in the dpreview Nikon FX forum.

For more opinions on the Nikon D600, check the list of completed Nikon D600 reviews. As of the time of writing, there are sixteen completed reviews, including the DxoMark test results.

Availability-wise, the Nikon D600 has been steadily in-stock for $2100 body only, $2600 with the 24-85mm f3.5-4.5G VR lens, and $3000 with the 28-300mm FX VR lens.
