Sensor News: iPhone 5 sensor by Sony, new Panasonic 1.12um mobile sensor
And now a quick catch up with the latest sensor news. The iPhone 5 retail release mania is hard to ignore, and just about every tech site is reviewing or doing something with the iPhone 5. iFixit and Chipworks decided to do more than that, they tore it apart (OMG! how dare they destroy The Beautiful One!!!) and they discovered that the sensor inside is made by Sony. Teardowns at Chipworks and iFixIt (via/discussion at CNet News, dpreview News et al).
On the Panasonic front, they are showing in Japan a new 1.12um sensor for mobile imaging in 14mp and 16mp configurations. Some early details via Image Sensors World.
