New Hasselblad H5D medium format camera officially announced

Hasselblad has just announced via press release the brand new Hasselblad H5D medium format camera!

The camera will be officially announced at Photokina 2012 on Tuesday September 18 at 2pm Photokina time.

The H5D will be available in multiple megapixel configuration to please all the number crunchers: 40mp, 50mp, and 60mp. And for fans of MultiShot, they will have 50mp and 200mp versions. The new H5Ds will start shipping in December 2012.

Along with the camera, Hasselblad is revealing a new 24mm f4.8 lens (17mm in 35mm-equivalency).

Hasselblad has also set up a page outlining the main new features of the H5D, which include:

+ compressed RAW files
+ True Focus II (with the obligatory promise of focus improvements) [does anyone ever announce a new focusing system that promises of worse performance?]
+ faster processors and new algorithms
+ lots of other ergonomic and usability features including bigger buttons, programmable buttons, more durable eye-cup, etc, etc, etc
