Blackmagic announces new camera with passive M43rds mount
The digital video/cinema action is heating up again. Blackmagic Design surprised us earlier in the year with their first $3K digital video camera (see B&H Photo), and now, surprise-surprise, there is a second model, this one has a passive Micro Four Thirds mount, giving videographers more lensaholic flexibility. This also means that a number of other lenses can be used with the help of third-party adapter. This new camera expects lenses to have a manual iris.
DSLR News Shooter has an additional post discussing the new camera, and noting that at some point in the future, Blackmagic Design may have an active M43rds mount as well.
The new camera is available for pre-order for $3,000 (same price as the first Blackmagic camera) at B&H Photo. Shipping estimate is New Year's Eve Eve in 2012.
