New Lens Announcement: Nikon 800mm f5.6 (SLR)

Nikon has announced they are working on a brand new SLR lens, the 800mm f5.6, which they plan to show at the Photokina trade show in Germany in September. Price and release date "have not yet been determined" says the press release, but as you can expect by the specs, this is not going to be a $100 prime :)

UPDATE: AP UK writes that a prototype will be shown at a golf event next week. I hope the lens internal noises don't disrupt the golfers ;-)
