Canon announces major 7D firmware update
Good news for Canon 7D photographers! The company has officially announced a major new firmware update (see Canon Europe) that will increase the camera's capabilities and functionality. The aforelinked press release says roll out will begin in August 2012.
Among other improvements, the RAW buffer will increase to 25 files (or 130 JPEGs). Since this is a firmware update, the expansion of the buffer is done in firmware/software. This is not like the previous Nikon buffer change $hardware operations$.
Other updates include in-camera editing and rating, GPS compatibility, manual audio level adjustment in movie recording, maximum auto ISO (400-6400), etc, etc.
At the same time, CPN Europe (Canon Professional Network) has posted a 7D HD film recorded in Sicily. Not sure if this was recorded with the old or new firmware.
