New sensor announcement: 16mp 1/2.3" Omnivision with 4K 60fps video
Just as we are all digesting 1080p video, Omnivision has moved the chains towards 4K video with two new sensor announcements, the OV16820 and OV16825, 16-megapixel 1/2.3" backlit CMOS sensors that can record 4K video (3840 x 2160) at 60fps and can also operate at full resolution at 30fps. The OV16820 and OV16825 support 10-12 bit RAW RGB images and 8-10 DPCM compression. Sensor features are typically a superset of what appears in an actual product since a number of other factors can limit implementation. Details at Omnivision (via Engadget).
