New Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 Di VC (stabilized full frame with motor)
Tamron has now added another option for photographers interested in the f2.8 workhorse zooms! They have announced the new 24-70mm f2.8 Di VC, which as the name suggests is optically stabilized and is a 35mm full frame lens and digitally optimized. The press release notes that Tamron is using a new image stabilization arrangement for this lens and a ultrasonic motor with a piezodrive element.
The lens will be available in the Canon, Nikon and Sony Alpha SLR mounts. No price and no release date. [insert standard rant about new product announcements having to include price and availability]
Quick Refresher on Tamron-speak: Di = Digitally Optimized 35mm full frame lens, Di-II = for cropped sensor cameras, Di-III: for mirrorless cameras. USD = Ultra Sonic Drive (not US Dollars). VC = Vibration Correction, aka image stabilization.
