New Sony Cybershot WX150, WX100, W690 grow to 10x optical zooms
It is now time for a new wave of Sony Cybershot digital cameras! We start with the W*-series, with the new Cybershot WX150 and WX100 with the new 18mp backlit CMOS sensor and the Cybershot W690
/W660 with a 16mp CCD sensor. Perhaps in a mild surprise, both of them have 10x optical zoom lenses. Yes, camera-phones have put the fear of zoom in digital camera manufacturers, and as we saw with today's 41-megapixel Nokia announcement, camera-phones cannot compete on optical zoom (at least not with currently available technology).
UPDATE: The WX150 and WX100 are different models (for example they have different screen size). The W660 was probably an announcement-burst ghost, since I haven't been able to find it again. Probably the TX66 threw me off or something.
