Canon launches six A-series P&S compacts [tape-delayed news]

And now time to catch up with the new Canon Powershot announcements that got buried in an avalanche of new camera announcements.

Once storied and respected, the Canon A-series is now made up of entry-level P&S cameras. This announcement has six models, the A4000 IS, A3400 IS, A2400 IS, A2300, A1300 and A810. Don't get excited by the A810 name, it's just a name. It has nothing to do with the legacy of the A710/A720 and older AA-powered A-series models. Only two of the six take AA batteries (the lowest priced ones).
