Interview: Samsung plans "a couple of new line-ups" in H1:2012
There is a new Samsung interview with Reuters where the Samsung digital cameras chief offers more concrete and measurable expectations:
"...We plan to introduce a couple of new lineups in the first half and aggressively boost sales of mirrorless cameras, with expanded portfolios to include cheaper models..."
Samsung is also hoping to sell half a million mirrorless cameras in 2012, while revealing that they only sold 120,000 mirrorless camera units in 2011. The bottom of the Reuters article quotes Samsung having 2% of the global DSLR/iLC market (perhaps IDC data; no time frame is given, but 2010 may be implied)
In the same interview Samsung denies any interest in acquisitions of other imaging companies (eg Olympus).
