Best selling cameras of our time: the iPhones

Our regular readers may recall our repeated desperate attempts to help the many tech bloggers understand why the iPhone is the most popular camera on flickr. This time we will try to make the point with these numbers:

+ for the last three months of 2011 (October, November and December) Apple sold 37 million iPhones (three iPhone models available) [via Techmeme]
+ for the first eleven months of 2011, CIPA reported 108 million digital camera shipments (with hundreds of different digital camera models available, at a rate of 200+ new models per year from the major manufacturers alone)
