Canon planning historic global announcement on November 3 in Hollywood

Canon is now sending invitations for a November 3, 2011 "Historic Global Announcement" in Hollywood, California! Historic and global! The choice of Hollywood probably suggests that it may have something to do with video. The historic part? Who knows... Wild speculation until November 3, that's for sure :)

One thing that we can perhaps deduce is that because November 3 is too close to the Holiday shopping madness, whatever it is, it is probably not going to be a mass-market consumer product.

Wide Open Camera speculates + rumorizes that this will be a Super35 CMOS video camera with 4K and choice of EF or PL lens mount.

And then there is a simpler, more pragmatic, and less exotic explanation - Canon executives from around the world wanted to have a Los Angeles vacation - and they found a way to get the company to pay for it ;-)
