Using Google+ to share pictures? Did you try it? What do you think?

The third time may be a charm for Google's attempt at social media. The new Google+ has generated more interest and excitement so far compared to their earlier attempts with Buzz and Wave. Google has also been smarter with this launch, the limited number of people having access to the beta has increased curiosity-interest in the service.

Thomas Hawk is one of the photographers on Google+ and yesterday he posted the results of his experiment, he posted the same photograph at five different social/photo-sharing networks (flickr, 500px, twitter, facebook, google+) and he is sharing the findings and measurables of the experiment. (please note this is just one isolated experiment, it is not intended to be an end-all comparison!).

UPDATE: I forgot to mention in the original post, Thomas Hawk wrote a Google+ for photo-sharing hands-on report last week.

Have any of you tried Google+ for photo-sharing purposes? What do you think so far? Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments, or share a link if you wrote about it on your website/blog or favorite forum.

Speaking of Google+, PC Magazine has a distilled article with nine reasons to switch from Facebook to Google+. (via @TimO'Reilly). A number of the points are related (indirectly) to photo-sharing.
