GE launches two compact-zooms (15x, 10x) with Aptina CMOS sensor and 10fps
The Australian PMA trade show saw the announcement of three new GE digital cameras, two of which are of general interest because, according to the press release, they are "incorporating Aptina™ A-Pix™ CMOS pixel technology" which allows for 10fps burst mode shooting. The two new GE compact-zooms are the fire-red GE G100 with a 15x zoom and the GE E1410 with a 10x zoom lens.
You can see front pictures of each at Photo Review. The press release parade continues at Buy-n-Shoot, Gizmod.au (via @aafuss), CNet AUS, DC Views, etc.
As you may recall, we also get 10fps burst mode shooting with some of the mainstream 1/2.3" backlit CMOS sensor compact-zooms. Most of the manufacturers do not reveal who makes the sensors, so unless someone is willing to do a complete teardown, it is a matter of speculation and conjecture by reading camera specs and press releases. With 200~ new cameras per year, teardowns can be prohibitively expensive on a mass scale!
