Canon reveals two new travel-zooms (SX230 HS w/GPS, and SX220 HS)
Canon is apparently taking the compact-travel-zoom competition more seriously as they have today revealed two new models, the SX230 HS with GPS functionality and the SX220 HS. These follow up on the SX210 and SX200 IS of previous years.
The SX230 HS (yes that's an HS, instead of the usual IS, guaranteed weeks and weeks of misspelled names) has a 14x optical zoom lens starting at 28mm, a 12mp CMOS sensor with Digic 4, 1080p video, shutter and aperture priority, and things like that. This is the first (from what I recall) Powershot that includes GPS functionality, which these days is almost a must for any camera that wants to call itself a "travel zoom". That perhaps along with 1080p video, zoom range, and compact body size?
