New Panasonic TS3/FT3 adds GPS, and other outdoorsy features
Feature-wise Panasonic is trying to take their waterproofs to another level (hopeful one where Monet does not reside) with the new waterproof TS3/FT3 that adds more outdoorsy features, such as a built-in GPS, a compass, altimeter and barometer. It is waterproof to 12 meters (40 feets), shockproof to the average height of an NBA player, freezeproof, and dust-bunnies-proof. Megapixel restraint is shown with a 12mp CCD. The folded optics lens is a 4.6x starting at 28mm eq.
The camera has a built-in database with 1 million landmarks from around the world and covers 200+ countries. It also has the "hot" features du jour, like 1080 video, 3D mode, and such.
Panasonic has picked up this bad habit of not announcing prices and availability with the announcement but instead opting for another announcement 30 days before the camera is going to be released.
