Dxomark evaluates Sony A580 and group-evaluates APS-C DSLRs
Dxomark has just completed their "Sony magic sensor" trilogy by posting the RAW-sensor-evaluation-data for the Sony A580. As usual with the DXomark data, you can compare to other cameras in their system. Here are some pre-filled evaluations to get you started:
But wait, there's more! Dxomark has published their own group evaluation case study comparing the results of some of today's APS-C DSLRs. Be sure to click through the "Next" links as there are seven pages of information, including trying to answer the question "are today's APS-C sensors better than the current generation"?. The comparison is a "Nikon Generations" with the D700, D7000 and D90 compared. Final conclusions are on the last page. The cameras referenced in their tests are the Canon 60D, Nikon D700, D7000, D90, Pentax K-5, and Sony A55, A580.
As usual, please note Dxomark measures RAW sensor data and it is not intended to be a 360-degree evaluation of a camera or a camera system. It is one piece of the equation, but not the theory of everything! - unless they discover that cameras are made of strings ;-)
