Review Train (Nikon D3100 studio samples, Sony A33, Canon S95, Lumix G2, etc)
Photokina meant more new cameras, and now new-cameras are finding themselves in reviewer's hands. So time for a new edition of the "Review Train".
If you are curious about the Nikon D3100, it looks like Imaging Resource is working towards a review, because they published today their usual boatload of full-size studio test samples, including a vast variety of .NEF RAW files as well. This is also compatible with their comparometer so you can compare it with any other camera in their system! If you are the early adopter type, the Nikon D3100 with the 18-55mm is in-stock and shipping at Amazon, by Amazon itself for $700, or you can get a two-lens kit with the 55-200mm DX VR for $820 when you enter coupon code 2JR6R6Z6 in the Amazon Checkout page. If you are not sure how these work, please check the Amazon Nikon Instant Rebates page.
On the other side of the aisle, the Canon S95 has another review, continuing with the review-a-day pace, this time at Trusted Reviews!
On the mirrorless front, Steve Huff Photo has a new review, it is the Panasonic G2, featuring lots of real-world pictures taken with said camera.
Staying with Panasonic, Optic Zone has published full-size samples along with AVCHD video samples taken with the Panasonic GH2 and the 14-42mm lens.
Meanwhile, Rice High has a first impressions report with the Sony Alpha A33, including an ISO 100 to 12800 comparison. I can see Nikkor lenses from my house!
On the video front, "Wanderer53" has a short video panning comparison between the Canon 60D and the Panasonic GH1 on Vimeo (via HD blog). On the Nikon front, Foto Actualidad has spotted a 16-second low-light ISO 1600 video recorded with the D7000.
On the superzoom wars front, Info Sync World is back again with a new short gadget-blog review, this time they check out the Canon SX30 IS - yes, that's the one with the 35X optical zoom lens!
And we close with a tip for reviewers: If you are going to post evaluation samples from a 37.5 megapixel camera, you may want to post something larger than the resolution of a laptop screen!
