Zeiss Cinema Lenses (CP.2) announced for Sony Alpha and Micro 4/3rds (F-mount lenses ship in Q4) [accessories revealed]
Zeiss continues to push forward in the 21st century as they begin to come to terms with "digital". We start with the less glorious products, but it is a first for Zeiss. As they hinted during the tease a couple of weeks ago, they are now launching accessories, and Photoscala, DC Views et al have the press release showing filters and camera straps with the Zeiss name. Take that red-dot! ;-)
But the biggest Zeiss news of the day are obviously the expansion of the Zeiss Cine Prime Mark II (CP.2) line up which was announced in mid-April 2010. The initial announcement covered Canon EF, Nikon F, and PL mounts. Today Zeiss has announced that this line-up will also be available in Micro Four Thirds and Sony Alpha mounts! They have also announced that the Nikon CP.2 lenses will begin shipping this quarter.
If you are not intimately familiar with the Zeiss world, these are cinema lenses, optimized for shooting video and targeting HD-DSLRs. Not to be confused with the Zeiss lenses for traditional stills photography!
