Two new Panasonic LX5 reviews (includes RAW samples)
There is new action in the Panasonic LX5 world. Photography Blog posted earlier today their review of the camera. As usual, they include a large number of real-world full-size samples both JPEG along with a number of RAW samples so photographers can evaluate them on their own using their own imaging tools and techniques. If you are in a hurry, conclusions are on the last page but we won't spill the LX-beans here!
One more thing, DC Resource has published an LX5 gallery, which is usually a sign that they are working on a review of the camera. In fact, according to the review calendar on their website, the LX5 is the next camera they will be publishing a review of! [NEW!]
The camera has began shipping at its opening price of $500 as you can see at the Panasonic LX5 stock status page. The $500 price-point is more for the early-adopter types. Its predecessor, the LX3, started at $500 as well, but it "broke out" when J&R World started offering it for $400. The current price of the LX3 is around $350 for the silver model and $365 for the black model as you can see at the LX3 stock status page.
Picking which compact-with-RAW to buy is a full blog in its own right, as Canon has three options (S90, S95, G11), Samsung has the EX1/TL500 and TL350/WB2000, Sigma has a rag-tag fleet of five DP-series models, Ricoh has the GX200, GX100, and GRD III, and Nikon has the ghost of the Coolpix P6000.
