Nikon D3100 ISO comparison samples (also vs Canon 60D, Alpha A55) [RAW included!]
The Nikon D3100 is of interest not just on its own merits, but also as perhaps the poster child of what the new 14mp APS-C CMOS sensor with 1080p video can do. We don't know if the question has been settled as to whether the sensor is made by Sony or by Nikon, or it is something in-between. We lost track of that long debate when the wave of new cameras hit. We'll try to get back to that later on...
In the meantime, french website Focus Numerique has posted ISO 100 to 12800 set of test-samples taken with the Nikon D3100. This is available in full-size JPEG and also RAW (.NEF) - look for the text-links right below the D3100 crops collage.
Better yet, because this is their standard test scene, they have also posted the same samples taken with the Canon 60D and the Sony Alpha A55. All test-scene samples are available in full size JPEG and RAW for your pixel-peepiential evaluations!
