New Nikon Coolpix S80 is fashion folded-optics compact with miserable battery life of 150 shots
The new Nikon Coolpix S80 comes in about 13 months after the Coolpix S70 and it is part of the folded-optics "fashion/bijou" compact segment of the market, as evidenced by its opening price of $330.
The 3.5-inch (819K dot) OLED display on the back is perhaps the defining characteristic of this camera, it's like a smartphone but it's a camera :)
Other features include a 5X folded optics lens (35-175mm eq [wide angle and folded optics are not usually good friends]) with lens-shift stabilization, a 14mp 1/2.3" sensor with 720p video, scenes and modes galore, just 0.7 inches thick, and as you can expect from all the above features, a rather miserable battery life of 150 shots using the EN-EL10 LiIon battery. Yikes, that smells like "Coolpix SQ" ;-)
But we have to give Nikon credit for not trying to "hide" the battery estimate of 150 :)
