New Pentax RS1000 is a basic P&S with multiple camera skins
False alarm I'm afraid. The name may remind photographers of the Olympus E100RS and get thinking in terms of a high-speed high-zoom camera, but the new Pentax RS1000 has nothing to do with either. It is a basic P&S compact camera with a consumer-bait twist - camera skins, piggy-backing on the popularity of this feature for other mass-market gadgets.
The camera itself has a 14mp 1/2.3" sensor, 4X (28-110m eq) zoom lens, 720p video, 3-inch LCD (230K), and things like that.
The camera is available for pre-order at Amazon for $150.
