YouTube embraces 4K video
The YouTube blog has announced that they have announced at the Vidcon 2010 conference that YouTube is now embracing 4K video. 4K is a lot more video than 1080p. 4K is 4096x3072, versus 1920x1080. So if you needed an excuse to turn your home or office wall into a giant screen, there you have it :-) [via Techmeme]
As you can expect, the announcement has already started a discussion at the RED forums, where things are back to hopeful after the bug was squashed.
None of the current HD-DSLRs are currently offering video beyond 1080p. If you do the math, 4K video = roughly 12 megapixels. Coincidence that Nikon DSLRs remain at 12mp? (but not 4:3 aspect ratio) :-)
