Canon working on smaller DSLRs to compete with mirrorless/EVILs

The heat is on! It looks like the window of non-CaNikon intervention in the mirrorless/small-iLC market may be starting to close. PetaPiXeL writes that in an interview with Reuters a Canon Japan official said that the company is planning to introduce smaller DSLR(s) that compete on size with the mirrorless iLCs/EVILs. The Canon official was careful not to reveal any further details. This is perhaps the "warning shot across the bow", which may also have the (probably intended) side-effect of "freezing the market" - some people postponing their purchases, waiting to see what Canon will have to offer.
