Nintendo jumps in the 3D camera arena with 3DS (but only VGA resolution)
It looks like every manufacturer is adding a camera to their products these days. Stay tuned for new microwaves with cameras in them. Then you can tweet/facebook your TV dinner for the world to see ;-) Perhaps that's why we have seen a great barrage of compact-fun-travel-zooms and "blade zooms" coming out in 2010. Perhaps in a smoke-and-sake filled backroom somewhere at the CIPA headquarters, under the cover of darkness, key executives from camera manufacturers decided that the only way they can survive in the P&S market is if they do something that smartphones, camcorder sticks, tablets, portable media players, game consoles, and netbooks and other gadgets cannot do - provide an 8X/10X lens with reasonable image quality.
With that as a probably unnecessarily introduction, Nintendo has announced at the E3 Expo their plans for a Nintendo 3DS with 3D image capture using three different cameras, two on the outside and one on the inside. As you can see below, each of the cameras has VGA (640x480) resolution. Regardless, it's not your older sibling's Nintendo any more!
