Ricoh GXR + S10 review now live at dpreview
The second part of the GXR system review at dpreview is out with a review of the GXR + S10 sensor-lens-block. This is a 31-pager, and it includes the GXR body evaluation you may have seen in the previous "GXR A12 50mm" review. (If you are reading this close to posting time, there appears to be a wrong heading on page #1, don't let that dissuade you, this is the S10 review, not the A12 review!)
Starting on page #20, you can find comparisons to the Canon G11, and the Panasonic LX3 and GF1. Conclusions are on page #30 and as usual we won't reveal them here.
Please note that this uses their new review rating system. This is not like graduate school grading where everybody gets an A or B. This is more like the angry and jaded professor who throws his sandals at students if they say something stupid and believes only Einstein-like performance deserves an "A" ;-)
As you can see at Amazon, GXR system prices remain much higher when compared to DSLRs, iLCs and advanced compacts. The GXR+S10 costs roughly 2X the price of an LX3 or S90, while the GXR+A12 is under $1200. At that price, you can get two E-PL1 kits, OR you can get most of the M43rds cameras plus the 45-200mm lens. You can also get the Nikon D90 or Canon T1i or T2i (now shipping) plus a nice prime for decidedly under $1000. But the GXR system is intended it seems to be a specialty system that grows over time, it is not intended to compete with the mass-market manufacturers...
