Pre-order alert: Nikon 16-35mm f4 VR ($1260)

Announced a few days ago, now the brand new Nikon 16-35mm f4 VR lens is available for pre-order at Amazon for the starting price of $1260. The lens is also pre-orderable at Adorama and listed (but not orderable) at B&H Photo.

Meanwhile one of the veteran dpreview forum users points out that some of the arguments against stabilization are holding less water after this move by Nikon. On the other hand, DigLLoyd wants to be convinced that VR is beneficial to this lens before embracing it (free section of his website).
