New Sigma 8-16mm f4.5-5.6 DC HSM (CMNPS)
The time has come to "digest" the waves and waves of new Sigma camera and lenses. We start the "Sigma flood" with the lenses, beginning with the new APS-C crop (DC) lens, the wide-zoom 8-16mm f4.5-5.6 DC HSM. On the 1.5x DSLRs, you roughly get the "equivalent" of 12-24mm. Yum??? Well, the price has yet to be announced!
The new lens will be available in the four traditional SLR mounts and of course in Sigma's own mount. No 43M43 however.
The code you see in the parenthesis in the post title is an "old school" naming scheme:
+ C: Canon
+ M: Minolta Alpha Sony
+ N: Nikon
+ O: Olympus OM/FourThirds
+ P: Pentax
+ S: Shiguma itself
New FLD glass
A number of the new Sigma lenses announced today, including this one, are using new FLD glass, which Sigma claims is equal in performance to fluorite glass, but at a more affordable price.
