New contest: Pictures inspired by songs/music
As we promised last December, the contests are coming back at the end of PMA! Today we start a new photography contest. The theme of this contest came up while reading about music while trying to think of photo contest ideas, and the light-bulb turned on at some point :) This is similar to our previous contests.
Pictures inspired by songs (or music in general). It could be any song or music piece, instrumental or with vocals. Or a whole album. You can mention which song inspired each picture you submit if you like, or you can leave us guessing :) This also applies to the post-processing of the picture - as long as this was part of the end-to-end creative process.
Each person can submit up to three pictures. Emphasis is on creativity and mood, not pixel-peeping. These are intended to be simple, fun and stress-free contests!
+ How to enter? Leave a comment on this post with a link to up to three of your pictures that you wish to enter in this contest. The pictures can be anywhere on the net (eg flickr, smugmug, blog, zenfolio, website, etc)
+ Make sure when you leave a comment you also provide an easy way for us to contact you if you are the winner (email, blog, twitter, etc). Be sure the contact option you have is one that you check on a regular basis
+ Deadline: Enter by Sunday March
7 14, 2010, at 11pm New York City time (worldclock). The winner will be announced by Friday March 12 19 (deadline extended by a week due to Focus/CP+ trade shows)
+ For your benefit, do not to link directly to the picture (eg http://link/picture.jpg). Instead where possible, use the link for the page that includes the picture. This way people can also check out your other works.
+ Do not email us your pictures! The only way to enter is to leave a comment with a link to your pictures
+ the pictures you submit can be old or new - you decide
+ There is no rights grab whatsoever. We won't even publish the winning picture on the blog unless the winner gives us permission to do so.
+ if the commenting system holds any entries for moderation, fear not. The original date+time of submission is recorded and they will be added if submitted before the deadline. We check these at least once a day.
