Predictions: Nikon D95 and D700X along with three lenses in Japanese magazine (rumors)
Via Foto Actualidad we learn of new predictions from a printed Japanese magazine for two new Nikon DSLRs and three lenses discussed in the dpreview forums. The magazine predicts a 24mp Nikon D700X (50% probability) and a 14mp Nikon D95 (55% probability). They also predict three new lenses: 80-400mm f3.5-5.6, 85mm f1.8, and 18-50 f3.5-4.5. Please note these are predictions printed in a Japanese magazine, not leaks, not official announcements.
Both of the cameras make sense to a certain extend. The Nikon D90 [reviews] was announced around Photokina 2008, so a new model, even for patient-Nikon is reasonable. The D700X, or more specifically a more affordable (than the D3X [reviews]) 20+ megapixel camera is also reasonable. Canon users can have 20+ with the 5D Mark II [diary] at $2500, while Alpha users can have 20+ with the Alpha A850 [reviews] at $2000. While it is true that many people do not want/need 20+ megapixels, it is also true that many people want/need 20+ megapixels.
