We are trying to improve the loading times of this turtle-fast blog. We have already removed a number of widgets (even though we love widgets). We also replaced the big headlines box at the top of the front page. If you were using that, you can find the latest updates at the headlines page. There is also a handy [HEADLINES] link pointing to those at the top of the front page, in the CAMERA NEWS line, right below the Camera Deals feed.

We were tempted to yank out all the traditional banner ads, but that would be a very very bad business decision, especially since there is this whole "affiliate tax" thing in play. We may try to re-arrange the columns and column-sizes, but I suspect the CES/PMA wave will hit us before we can get to all that.

A quick reminder on the photography-contest front, the HDR contest closes at 11pm New York City time on Sunday January 3.
