Ricoh GRD III - the big multi-part review has began!
As promised earlier on, the Ricoh GR Diary News blog has began their in-depth multi-part review of the Ricoh GRD III. Today they have posted part #1 which provides an introduction to the camera, and part #2 which looks at the most notable features of the camera. There are a total of nine parts planned so be sure to stay tuned to their website for more!
And if you happened to missed it before, they have produced a 52-page online book (Flash, bandwidth), in association with Ricoh, highlighting the features and pictures (it rhymes?) of the GRD3.
And on the retail front, we have some good news for Ricoh fans - Amazon.com itself is now offering the Ricoh GRD III. It is currently in pre-order status, at the $700 opening price, and they have butchered its name, but this could be great news in terms of future pricing and availability. Before Amazon dove in with the GXR system, in the US market, only a trio of retailers had been carrying Ricoh cameras, so the prices were very static. One would hope that with Amazon.com beginning to offer them, the invisible hand of the market would be able to adjust prices dynamically and thus, more photographers would end up buying Ricoh cameras instead of other more competitively-priced models from other manufacturers that are enjoying dynamic price adjustments.
