Pentax K-x night-time photos and new 21-page review
The Pentax K-x parade continues with a new gallery of real-world night-time photos posted at Foto Actualidad (corrected link). These are available as full-size JPEGs for evaluation purposes via flickr. Just click on each picture to get to the full size.
On a totally unrelated note, here is a letter Pentaxians need to send to Ned B:
"Dear Ned,Please provide a Pentax K-7 body with a Pentax K-x sensor.
Sincerely,
Asahians"
On the review front, Digital Camera Info has published their take on the K-x. We pick up the action on the third page, because the first page of the review includes spoilers - a summary of each review section, and the second page (Product Tour) is currently broken. DCI has picked a good set of cameras to compare it with, the Nikon D5000, Canon D-Rebel T1i/500D/Kiss-Kiss-Kiss (expanded Japanese name), Panasonic GF1, and its predecessor, the K2000 (K-m). And for the impatient crowd, you can jump to the conclusions. Is it a bed of roses or a bucket of icy-cold water on the K-fire?
Please note DCI, like many other websites are using interstitial ads, so you may see an ad before you see one of the review pages above. We have no control over this. If you use Flashblock on Firefox, this can be especially annoying because the ad keeps coming back with every page you load. We do not use interstitial ads on this blog, which is yet another bad business decision we make in favor of readability :)
K-x stock status update
In terms of prices + availability, surprisingly, very little has changed since our previous update of the K-x stock status page. If you need the camera right away, the best bang for the buck is the K-x w/18-55 and 50-200mm at Amazon for $639. If you do not object to waiting for an unknown amount of time for shipment, for $644, also from Amazon, you can get the 18-55 and 55-300mm kit. Among the one-lens kit, B&H Photo has the best deal on the black 18-55mm kit for $550 with a bonus Pentax-branded Sling bag and 4gb memory card. Speaking of which, this week's B&H specials feature K-x accessories.
