Nikon D3s test-samples (JPEG and RAW) at Imaging Resource
Pixel-peepers, start your engines! Go to your nearest coffee supply store and get one of those industrial-strength coffee-machines, because that is what you are going to need if you plan to pixel-peep the nearly one-hundred Nikon D3s test-sample pictures posted by Imaging Resource.
As usual, all the images are available as full-size JPEGs, and a number of them are available in RAW (NEF). If you are only interested in RAW, use your browser's search function (CTRL-F in Firefaux, the official browser of this blog) to search for the magic word "NEF". These are the sample pictures they use in their reviews, which means two things:
1) You can use their Comparometer to compare the D3s to other cameras
2) They are working on a review of the D3s
The Nikon D3s is in pre-order status at most places, although, in usual fashion, a few select third-party sellers at Amazon have it in-stock and they are charging a limited availability premium for it. Right now, both Cameta and 17th Street are shipping it for around $5500, a $300 "limited availability" premium. One encouraging aspect is that B&H Photo is accepting pre-orders for it at $5200 and so is Adorama.
