New Top Selling DSLRs: Pentax K-x moves in again

After skipping a week due to the Black Fri-Monday madness, we are back with a brand new snapshot of the top selling DSLRs at Amazon. As usual, we start with a screenshot teaser, and then aimlessly rumble on (oops! I mean, analyze!). If you are reading this for the first time, be sure to read the introduction first.

Pentax K-x: If you discount it, they will come!
Leading the Pentax K-x charge after the recent mega-discounting is the black K-x w/18-55mm kit going for $550. This is a new entry at #15, with the "Star Wars" version (white body) knocking on the Top 20 door at #24.

Goodbye Full Frame (for now)
With the holidays and more general-interest consumers buying DSLRs, the two full-frame residents (D700, 5DMk2) have now left the top 20, but they haven't gone far, they are just outside!

CORRECTION: Nikon D300s price did not change
All apologies for the confusion! We thought the D300s price was $1640 and dropped to $1540, but it was at $1540 all along as you can see at the Nikon Instant Rebates round-up of November 30. All apologies for the confusion! One of the side-effects of chaotic-blogging is scrambled brains :(

Price-drops continue
As you can see from the upticks vs downticks indicator below in this (and also in previous updates), the downtickers have been winning with a landslide (just like the stock-market). The only camera to counter the trend this period is the Nikon D90 body only which went up $15 or so. With the rather modest presence of the Canon 50D, the Nikon D90 is having a lot of breathing room, being the most affordable focus-capable Nikon-mount DSLR these days.
