New Nikon 300mm f2.8 VR II lens and TC-20E III teleconverter
Why wait for 2010? Let's have all the new lenses this year :) Hot on the heels of today's Pentax 100mm f2.8 WR macro, Nikon has revealed a new lens themselves along with a new tele-converter!
The new lens is a specialty lens, the Nikkor 300mm f2.8 VR II. It will start shipping in January 2010, with an expected opening price of $5900, which is $600 more than the current price of the current version. As you can expect, the lens has lots of advanced Nikon technologies and buzzwords, SWM, ED, Nano-Crystal coat, die-cast magnesium, A/M mode, VR II, AF Recall, and more. The five photographers who can afford it must be excited ;)
Also new today is the TC-20E III tele-converter, which as the name suggests, doubles the focal length of compatible lenses. Nikon says this is the first TC to use an aspherical element. It will also come out in January 2010 with an opening price of $500 and it is now available for pre-order at Amazon.
